I saw it in the store and saw it was pretty flimsy material and looked thru the Googled items again. I researched the others cowboy grills and ALMOST purchased one. I'm a "firebug"- have been for years so this is right up my alley and I love the challenge of learning new things even at 75. It's still hit-or-miss, but I feel more confident that I'll be able to bring forth some really good food for our friends and neighbors. Still not knowing how hot it was at grate level, I kept holding my hand to fire as I lowered it to a good, hot level. I built a much larger fire and let it burn down quite a bit before putting the bird on the rack. I learned from that first cook that I'd better have plenty of wood on hand if wanted to to cook a long time (2 hours or more).Ģnd cook was half a chicken - a big chicken. I started thinking then, "how many wings CAN we cook with both racks full?" Many, many we could ever eat without a small army to feed. I was right.though I had to struggle to keep the fire hot enuff, the wings came out nice and juicy with a pretty crispy skin. I felt like I wouldn't be able to screw up wings. They would pick up what they could as they went, but most Chuck Wagon dinners were simple, “Chuck Wagon BBQ”.ġst impression after setup was, "this is a big grill!" - especially since I added the 2nd grate. The cook would pack staples that would last long journeys: salted meats, sourdough biscuits, and dried beans. The invention of the Chuck Wagon is attributed to Charles Goodnight, a known Texas rancher. These cowboys needed to eat, and the Chuck Wagon became their daily diner on the road. Before automobiles and animal trailers, cowboys moved by horse, often spending long, arduous days breaking trail with a herd of cattle by their sides. Kenneth McLaurin has long gone by the moniker "The Funniest Person You've Never Heard Of," but because of the success of his freshman album, "Cuttin' Up, Comedy at The Shop," he now adds the title of most listened to person on Spotify in the Village of Ithaca. He uses his dark humor to blend the recreational activities of his past with his responsibilities as a father beautifully. A new dad and a familiar face in the Rochester scene, Kuhn has hosted shows for Pat McGann and Shane Gillis and worked with Andrew Schulz, Jessimae Peluso, Dov Davidoff and Rich Voss. A Rochester comedian, Andy Kuhn has performed all over the northeastern United States. A member of the Army for six years, a former police officer and now a part of the National Guard, Hoover is armed with a life’s worth of stories and he’s finally found an outlet that doesn’t include a gun and a haircut. Marc Hoover got his start in stand-up in 2019 and has been one of the hardest-working comedians in Binghamton ever since. Peters produces shows all over New York and hosts his weekly podcast, On the Mic with Mike Peters. A contributor for Funny or Die, Peters performed at the Funny Bone in Syracuse, the Greenwich Village Comedy Club in New York City, won the Utica Brews Laugh Contest and Uptown Roast Battle and opened for Super Troopers’ Rabbit, Erik Stolhanske, and Gilbert Gottfried. About the comedians: Mike Peters, a Binghamton comedian, specializes in self-deprecating, observational humor. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and it's completely free. Kenneth McLaurin is headlining the show and Andy Kuhn and Marc Hoover will join host Mike Peters. The laughs are coming back to Port Crane when Homebrewed Comedy takes the stage at Fat Cowboys Fireside BBQ on Wednesday, Oct.
